By Douglas Mazune SPEAR Motors has injected over sh15m in the Uganda Golf Ladies Union (UGLU) organised 'Spear motors weekend of golf' due November 11-12. Spear Motors managing director David Draude revealed while handing over a sh3.2m cheque to UGLU president Monica Ntege to cater for feeding of the participants and preparation of the course. "The total package is over sh15m, we are going to give away many prizes and customs duty in millions of shillings," Draude said. "We used to sponsor golf about 15 years ago and when the ladies union (UGLU) contacted us, we accepted to support the sport as a way of reaching our clients and I encourage them to visit our site www.spearmotors.com," Draude said. Spear Motors will display five of their cars at the Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Kitante course. A jovial Ntege who was accompanied by her treasurer Alice Owor said the sponsorship is one of the biggest UGLC has ever got. Ntege said the tournament has two events that will see golfers play day one on four-ball-better-ball format in pairs before the 18-hole individual medal play the next day. "Players must take part in both of the events because the idea is for everyone to enjoy and prizes will be given for both events," Ntege said. Over 180 players from Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe, Tororo, Mbarara, Mbale, Kabale and other upcountry clubs are expected. Ends.
