The fleet-footed Tanzanian champions used a fast game to frustrate the towering Telkom players, in a fast final watched by Sports Minister Omony Ogaba at Nakivubo stadium. With the Ugandan teams all out, fans went behind the winners, who walked off 39-28 victors over Kenyan side Telkom. Bandari who knocked out Posta 43-37 in the semi-final capitalised on crisp shot passes to deprived Telkom the aerial advantage. Bandari surged forward from the first quarter 8-6, 17-11, 28-18. Shooter Aisha Ibrahim and attacker Jemsina Mwaluko proved too elusive for the Kenyan defence manned by Hamisi Mwaddawa. The pair went on to get the top scores of 23 and 16 goals respectively. Roselyne Kamonya made 12 for Telkom who halted Uganda's NIC 36-35 in the other semi-final on Wednesday. Defender Judith Ilunda was very effective in frustrating the Telkom attacks, and took advantage of all loose balls. Bandari coach Rosemina Chijumba was excited with the display by her team. "This is what we were aiming at and we have made it," she said after the final whistle. The tournament, was preceded by a course for umpires and officials conducted by two South African experts.
