By Godfrey Olukya Ex-servicemen attending a ceremony to commemorate soldiers who died during WWII, got tipsy and threatened to attack each other recently. Over 70 ex-servicemen attended the function which began with prayers at Constitutional Square last Saturday. Following prayers, the servicemen attended a party at the British Embassy premises in Kololo. After drinking several bottles of beer, the men began quarrelling. One of them, a man called Dalemwa, complained that the British Government had given the ex-servicemen money but that it was eaten by their leaders. Boniface Kabare, who is on the ex-serviceman's executive, responded saying that Dalemwa was a con-man who did not qualify to wear the medals pinned to his uniform. Dalemwa, wearing the uniform he wore in 1939, threatened to punch Kabare if he did not shut his mouth. Kabare stood up ready to serve a punch before ex-servicemen separated them. A British soldier approached the brawling men and they calmed down. Afterwards the ex-soldiers sat around trying to pretend that nothing had happened. Ends.
