BOMBO SSS student Paul Wakou beat a strong field of 40 athletes to win the Kampala 10km road race at Lugogo yesterday.

By Samson Opus BOMBO SSS student Paul Wakou beat a strong field of 40 athletes to win the Kampala 10km road race at Lugogo yesterday. Wakou crossed the finishing line in 30 minutes 17.51 (30:17.51) seconds ahead of school mate Pascal Owor who was timed 30:28.68. Ndejje University's Ben Chesang came third in 30:39.61 followed by Frank Bwambale (Bandoline) at 31:11.26. The event organised by the Uganda Amateur Athletic Federation (UAAF) as a warm up of the new season saw Martin Okello of Nkumba taking fifth position in 31:58.59 while Tonny Okello (Bombo SSS) followed in 32:07.36. Meanwhile, a Level One Olympic Solidarity coaching course starts today at Mandela stadium. The 12-day course organised by UAAF in conjunction with the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) will be facilitated by two instructors expected from Ghana and South Africa today. Ends.
