By William Muwonge and Peter Ekarot FFUMBE renew their search for the elusive Baganda clans title as this year's competition starts at Nakivubo today. The team faces Kkobe, Cup holders 45 years ago in the event that drew 35 teams. King Ronald Mutebi will set the annual competition, due to end in February, in motion. Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) yesterday handed over 35 balls worth sh1.5m to participating teams in the Bika. UBL Bell Brand manager Baker Magunda handed over the 35 balls to Bika Football Committee secretary Edward Luyimbazi at a brief function at Nakivubo stadium. "UBL wishes Buganda a successful tournament and this donation is to say thank you ass our consumers," said Magunda. The opening game will be followed by a break before action resumes with Nakinsige taking on Njaza on Tuesday. Former holders Nkima will begin their campaign against Kasimba on Wednesday. Ffumbe have lined up a formidable team comprising several premier league players in the hunt for their first title since the event started 40 years ago. Defenders Patrick Ntege and Bust Sengendo will lead the team's challenge. The experience of Sula Walusimbi in the midfield and veteran striker Mathias Kawesa is also vital in today's game. Kkobe will look to defender Robert Sensalire, midfielder Nsereko and strikers George Sebuliba and Sulaiman Kayongo. Both teams were eliminated at the quarter finals stage in last year's competition. The match, set to kick off at 4.30 pm, will be preceded by a march past of all participating teams. Ends.
