THE son of opposition Forum for Democratic Change strongman Maj. Rubaramira Ruranga has asked the people of Kinkiizi West in Kanungu district to vote for Amama Mbabazi, saying he had the capacity to provide for the area.

Pius Kwesiga, who denied belonging to any political party, said he had known Mbabazi as his uncle and had stayed with him for some years.

He said his mission was to utilise the campaign period to drum up support for the growing of vegetables to help people emerge out of poverty.

Kwesiga, who is the operations director in Nile Fresh Produce, a company with partners in Israel and United Kingdom, said his company was planning to support 40,000 vegetable farmers in Kigezi region, starting with the districts of Rukungiri, Kabale, Kisoro and Kanungu.

He said the company would provide seedlings to farmers, supply herbicides and offer training in modern farming.

Kwesiga said his partners in Israel were ready to provide Ugandans with technological training while the United Kingdom would provide ready market for the vegetables.

“Each farmer who cultivates an acre of vegetables will earn up to sh2m per harvest season,” he said.
