THE waistcoat is definitely a men’s fashion essential. Over the last couple of months, this essentially formal look is fast becoming more and more popular indicating that we are moving further and further away from the jeans and T-shirt look on a night out.

The waistcoat screams style, confidence, class, and can be dressed up or down, dependant on the occasion.

Roll the sleeves of a long shirt up with a few buttons undone for a casual look or go the whole hog with blazer, fitted trousers and shoes.

You will find the waistcoat perfect for drinks out just like it is on slow Mondays. Waistcoats will complement a pair of flat pants the same way they will a pair of faded denim jeans.

Whether it is being more creative with your outfit, standing out in comparison to others, or you are just more fashion conscious; you will definitely have the girls fixing their eyes on you.

What a waistcoat can do
A waistcoat will give your outfit a whole different vibe; especially plain shirts like white, light blue, or grey. A gray waistcoat will come perfectly on blue, black or even whites.

A waistcoat gives you a little bit of warmth in a cold environment, while not too thick to get you sweating profusely on a hot afternoon- that is why waistcoats beat half sweaters.

You can always button up or not, subject to what works best for you. However, buttoning up flatters slimmer guys more than it does the chubbier ones. If you are chubby, wear it unbuttoned if you want a trimmed look.

In case your office is a formal setting that demands wearing jackets, a waistcoat makes a decent option. A nice grey waistcoat with a dark pair of slim jeans would go quite easily on anyone. While most people wear normal jeans and a T-shirt while at a night out, dress in dark jeans, nice shoes, crisp white shirt and of course the incredible waistcoat.

Do not go around completely over the top or you will look awkward. Dress for the occasion, but then adding a little flair-subtlety is the key. With nice accessories or just going that little bit smarter, you will instantly project confidence, style and knowledge of fashion.
