THE issue of club versus country has come up as Uganda gets into the last days to its return leg against Congo in the 2012 Olympic qualifiers.

Coach Frank “Video” Anyau’s training is being interrupted by clubs demanding for their players for league fixtures.

The clash between national team and league schedules will today leave only striker Karim Ndugwa in Anyau’s camp in Kavumba. The rest of the 18 players will be away in matches involving KCC FC, Bunamwaya, URA FC, SC Villa and Proline.

“Such disruptions should not be allowed. There is need for the team to concentrate,” complained Anyau, whose camp on Friday missed several players for a similar reason.

“I for instance couldn’t conduct a hard training session yesterday because the clubs would complain that I am over working their players,” said Anyau.

The Ugandan youth team that won the first leg in Kampala1-0, leaves for the Congolese capital Brazzaville on Friday.

League manager Paul Kabaikaramu yesterday said his duty was to ensure that league matches are on schedule.

He however said changes are provided for. But he added that in this case it should have been up to FUFA to request for a postponement.
