SLOWLY but surely, Lexxus Legal, the founding member of the Congolese hip hop group PNB (Pensée Nègre Brute), walked away smiling after his marvelous performance at Alliance Francaise, Nakasero Gardens last Saturday.

The gates opened at 7:00pm with few revellers coming in but by 8:00pm, the turn-up had improved as more revellers, mainly French speakers, waltzed in.

The crowd, which comprised of mostly young urbanite jostled, screamed and danced as Lexxus performed.

His lyrics, in English and French, often condemned the evils haunting Africa in general and his country the DR Congo, in particular. Lexxus also echoed the message of pioneer African leaders who nurtured the dream of a peaceful and united Africa with more equity and deciding their own destiny.

As he performed, Lexxus got lots of applaud from the frenzy fans that had filled up the gardens. The show ended in the wee hours of the night.

Lexxus won the 2009 Ndule Award and was a finalist of the RFI World Music Prize of 2010.
