Scholarship opportunities for teachers

THE French Embassy in Uganda, within the framework of its co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Sports, awards Ugandan teachers of French, scholarships for both long and short term programmes in Uganda, as well as in France.

THE French Embassy in Uganda, within the framework of its co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Sports, awards Ugandan teachers of French, scholarships for both long and short term programmes in Uganda, as well as in France.

In this regard, the embassy is pleased to announce that, for the fourth year running, it is awarding scholarships to Makerere, Kyambogo and for the first time, Kabale universities for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Beneficiaries
Hardworking students aiming at becoming teachers of French or teachers in service who do not hold any university diploma or degree.

Disciplines considered
Only prospective French teacher students in B.A. with Education and DES in Makerere, Kyambogo and Kabale universities.

Application requirements
While emphasis is put on a gender and regional balance, candidates must be citizens of Uganda. A’level candidates must have their admission to B.A. Ed, and must have passed their A’level examination in 2010. And teachers in service must be currently teaching in an officially registered secondary school. The latter should as well be members of APFO (Association of Teachers of French in Uganda); they must have passed their A’level with French and be admitted to B.A. Ed.

Nature of the scholarship
  • To cover all administrative fees, excluding accommodation and meals.

  • To be paid directly as a grant to the university on behalf of the awardees for three years.

  • The Embassy of France holds the right to stop the scholarship during the three-year programme according to results obtained.


  • How to apply:
    All applications must reach the embassy not later than July 15, 2011. Candidates must submit a copy of their admission letter from the university as well as copies of certificates (O’ and A’levels). Forms can be got from the embassy website on this link: http://www.ambafrance-ug.org/spip.php
