BUNAMWAYA FC made a formidable start by walloping Elman of Somalia 4-0 in the Kagame Castle Lager CECAFA Cup yesterday. It was the biggest winning margin in group B that also includes El Meriekh of Sudan and Young Africans of Tanzania.

The former Ugandan champions had to wait until the 37th minute to crack a stubborn Elman side that occasionally proved a threat through Abubaker Abdikarim.

However, Robert Kimuli stunned the Somalian side with the opening goal at Dar es Salaam national stadium.

Bunamwaya later had to adopt long balls to counter Elman and it paid off with Luwaga Kizito, Ronald Muganga and Ayub Kisaliita scoring vital goals that dispatched the Somalis.

Coach Edward Golola later stated that his side would be prepared for El Mereikh on Thursday: “We do not respect El Mereikh at all. All of us are champions. If my boys stay focused we shall win the match,” vowed Golola.

Elman coach Yusuf Ali Nur attributed his heavy loss to lack of good preparations because of fighting in Mogadishu.

“We did not have enough training. We just trained for one day from one place and run again. We are here for the love of CECAFA.”
