Mbarara Secondary School at Nyamityobora campus in Mbarara Municipality has been closed after students turned rowdy following a teachers’ sit down strike.

Teachers refused to give students examination papers.

Students who were to sit for the end of second term exams turned violent when some teachers failed to turn up at the School.

Students pelted Police with stones forcing Policemen to fire tire gas to disperse them. Some fainted after inhaling tear gas.

Over 300 students from S1-S3 classes were sent home until Monday next week.

Christopher Twesigye, the headmaster of the School, said students went on the strike after the delay to give them examination papers due to insufficient teachers to supervise them.
