The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has warned parliamentary committees of disciplinary action if they do not perform as expected.
She said some committees do not deliver in time and in the end fail to make decisions on given issues.
“I will suspend inactive committees. I will not allow committees to delay in pursuing their given responsibilities,†she stressed.
Kadaga was speaking during a regional meeting of the Southern and Eastern Africa Parliamentary Alliance Committee on Health at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala yesterday.
She thanked MPs for supporting the budget for the health sector, particularly the funds for maternal health.
“I believe investing in maternal, child and family health will surely yield high returns for Ugandans in the future,†Kadaga noted.
