SC Villa coach Srdjan Zivojnov has resigned following a dismal start in Bell Uganda Super League.

Zivojnov who had been given an ultimatum to win Friday’s encounter with rivals SC Express handed in his resignation on Wednesday night.

The resignation was gladly accepted by the SC Villa board that had put Zivojnov under intense pressure to deliver results.

The Serb had drawn five of the seven league games which plunged Villa in the bottom half of the table.

Villa Technical Director Joseph Kanaaba has confirmed to New Vision that Zivojnov’s assistant Paul Mukatabala has also been suspended to allow a complete restructure of the technical bench.

“We have parted ways amicably and wish him well in his career,” Kanaaba said.

Kanaaba and veteran player Hakim Magumba will take charge as the board seeks a new coach.

The SC Villa board had already been overwhelmed by coaches expressing interest in replacing the Serb as his fortunes steadily diminished.

Kanaaba revealed that three Ugandans, a Serb, Briton and Germany coaches have made contact with the Villa board expressing interest in the job.

Sam Timbe’s agent had represented credentials of the former Yanga Africans (Tanzania) coach to Villa. Timbe won the CECAFA club championship for Villa. Kanaaba declined to name the other Ugandan coaches who have contacted Villa through third parties because they are still serving their current clubs.
