Secondary schools in Kabale district have increased fees for both boarding and day scholars ahead of the new school term that begins today. St. Mary’s College Rushoroza headteacher Remegio Byamukama said the increment was aimed at countering the price hikes of essential commodities. He said the Boarding students will pay sh450,000 while those in the day section will pay sh350,000 for third term.

Kiruhura passes sh13.8b budget
Kiruhura district council has passed a sh13.8b budget for the 2011/2012 financial year. The budget was passed with several amendments after it was presented to the council on June 28. The finance secretary, Dan Mukago Rutetebya, said with the removal of graduated tax compensation, the expected revenue would reduce, which will affect the implementation of the 2011/2012 work-plans. Mukago told council to enhance the local revenue by implementing the milk collection, cooling and processing ordinance.
