At the mention of adoption, one of the first thoughts to come to many a Ugandan’s mind is that it is only for White couples. The second thought is that it is a last resort for couples who have failed to get children of their own.

At the mention of adoption, one of the first thoughts to come to many a Ugandan’s mind is that it is only for White couples. The second thought is that it is a last resort for couples who have failed to get children of their own.

Today, there’s a new generation of Ugandans who are going against these myths and adopting children as well. In our lead story, we profile George and Desire Barugahare, a married Christian couple who, in addition to their two biological children, have adopted two others. Find out what inspired them to adopt other children, their joys, challenges and their dreams for their children.

Inspired to pick a leaf from them? We give you tips on how to adopt a child and how to bond with them and so much more.

We also feature Theresa Mbire or Mama Mbire, the muse behind the 2004 hit by the same name. She is a powerhouse, who has not only raised children who have excelled in their various fields, but has also empowered so many women. For her efforts, she has many awards to her name. Discover what her latest achievement is and what keeps the 77-year-old’s star shining bright.

Have a great week and as one singer said: “You are changing the world, one heart beat at a time.”
