Paw paw prices go down

At the start of last week, the price of pawpaws went down. In Owino and Kalerwe markets small pawpaws reduced from sh1,500 to sh500.

At the start of last week, the price of pawpaws went down. In Owino and Kalerwe markets small pawpaws reduced from sh1,500 to sh500.

The big pawpaw decreased from sh4,000 to sh3,000. In Nakasero market, the big pawpaw reduced from sh7,000 to sh5,000. The medium - sized pawpaw that cost sh5,000 reduced to sh4,000.

Mangoes
It has been two months since the supply of mangoes to the markets drastically reduced. The fall in supply has caused a rise in prices. By the end of last week, one big- sized mango in Naksero and Kibuye markets was selling at sh3,000 from sh2,500 (retail). In Owino and Kalerwe markets, the big-sized mango that was previously selling at sh1,000 increased to sh2,000 for every five mangoes.

Sugar
The price of sugar registered a slight fall at the start of last week. A kilogram that was selling at sh6,500 in Nakasero, Nakawa and Kibuye markets reduced to sh5,500.

Cauliflower
Cauliflower is a vegetable commonly grown in China, France and Italy. It can be served boiled, fried, steamed or raw. In most African communities, the leaves are plucked off, chopped and added to various stews.

Cauliflower contains high dietary fiber, water and vitamin C. It has a low fat level which helps prevent complications like esophageal cancer. It has a great market potential in Uganda. Cauliflower costs about sh3,000 in markets around the city.
