VIDEOS: Women's Day celebrations around the world

On Friday, countries around the world celebrated the International Women's Day, observed every March 8.

In Thailand, hundreds of women marched from Bangkok's Democracy Monument to Government House, the offices of Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. Decked out in purple, many of the marchers demanded improvements to the kingdom's laws on maternity leave.

In Indonesia, hundreds of women gathered in Central Jakarta to hold a rally marking the commemoration.

In Pakistan, people held banners and chant slogans as they took to Islamabad's streets to mark International Women's Day. Many of the demonstrators were also marching in support of Palestinians.

In North Korea, people bought flowers and attended a musical performance in Pyongyang to celebrate International Women's Day.
