Uganda opened with an 8th position placement after the first round but slipped to 9th after the second-round action having carded 229 from their best three players on the day; Emmanuel Jakisa, Collin Ajidra and Ronald Otile. But their score was a stroke more than their opening round total of 228.

Uganda is out of the race for the All-Africa Amateur Golf Championship after failing to improve their scores in the second round of the event taking place at the El Gouna Golf Club in Egypt.
Uganda opened with an 8th position placement after the first round but slipped to 9th after the second-round action having carded 229 from their best three players on the day; Emmanuel Jakisa, Collin Ajidra and Ronald Otile. But their score was a stroke more than their opening round total of 228.
Apart from Emmanuel Jakisa who improved his first-round individual score by five strokes, Ajidra who was Uganda’s best in the opening round played five-over 77 (2 strokes more than what he returned in the first round), while Otile added four strokes on his opening three-over 75.
As Uganda slipped, Zambia improved their overall day’s score by three strokes to displace Uganda.
This means in the remaining two rounds; Uganda will continue playing only for better overall placements but not for the championship, though team Coach Flavia Namakula still believes otherwise.
“We are not out yet. The plan is to try and play under par in the remaining rounds,” she said. Uganda trails the leaders Morocco by 42 strokes, going into the third round of the event.
The Uganda Golf Union (UGU) opted to field four Uganda’s US-based golfers instead of the team that lost to Kenya in both the Africa Region IV Golf Championship and the Victoria Cup but the US-based golfers have so far not met the expectations of the tournament.
Uganda last competed in the 2018 edition where they were good for fourth place at the Mont Choisy Le Golf course in Port Louis, Mauritius.
