Experienced tactician Mike Mutebi will take over from Greek man Petros Koukouras as the next Sports Club Villa manager.

The CAF "A" licensed tactician reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the management of Uganda's most successful football entity.

Mutebi makes a return to the Jogoos where he coached in 2011 when he replaced Serbian Srdjan Zivojnov. SC Villa is expected to make a formal announcement in the coming days.

He last coached Rwandan club AS Kigali and was sacked just four months into his appointment as head coach.

He has also managed KCCA FC where he attained three league titles, two Uganda Cups, four Super Cups, and One Cecafa Club Cup in five years, making him the most successful manager in the club’s history.

Mutebi also loves working with young teams and SC Villa fits that profile. The only challenge for Mutebi is that he believes in recruiting quality players yet the club does not seem eager to spend a lot on transfers.

He has inherited a squad low on confidence and the team has demanding fans who are desperate for inspiration.

SC Villa under the Greek finished 12th in the Premier League last season with 33 points and was eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup in the quarter-finals by winners BUL FC.
