Under the guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping's concept of "truth, real results, real results, and good faith" and the correct view of justice and interests, China has always respected, loved, and supported Africa.

The people of both sides are of one mind and help each other, and have embarked on a distinctive path of win-win co-operation.

Deputy general manager of PetroChina International Department Yang Tao, while speaking at China Petroleum-China international press exchange revealed that at the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation, China and Africa reached a strategic consensus on working together to build a community with a shared future, pressing the "accelerator button" for the development of China-Africa relations and putting the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Africa on the "fast track" and entering the building stage.

A new era of high-level and high-quality development. China has remained Africa's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years.

In 2023, China-Africa trade volume will reach $282.1 billion, a record high. The pie of China-Africa cooperation is getting bigger and bigger.

The hearts of the people of China and Africa are getting closer and closer. This fall (2024), the new session of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation will be held in Beijing.

Chinese and African leaders will gather in Beijing again after six years to discuss China-Africa cooperation plans in the new era.

"We look forward to the common development of China and Africa to open up a new realm. The China-Africa community with a shared future opens a new chapter", Yang Tao said.

PetroChina is China's largest oil and gas producer and one of the world's major oil and gas producers and suppliers.

It integrates oil and gas exploration and development and new energy, refining, and chemical sales and new materials, support and services, capital, and finance. Integrated international energy company.

In 2023, PetroChina ranked fifth among the Fortune Global 500; its domestic and foreign oil and gas production equivalent was 330 million tons, and its international trade volume was 500 million tons; it processed 227 million tons of crude oil at home and abroad, and its refining capacity ranked second in the world; it was rated by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Top 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World.

PetroChina has invested in 90 projects in more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, with an overseas oil and gas equity production equivalent of more than 100 million tons.

Engineering construction and technical service businesses are distributed in more than 80 countries and regions around the world.

"We have always insisted that science and technology is the primary productive force and innovation is the primary driving force. We have made overall plans and vigorously promoted the construction of personnel and chemical industry innovation highlands. Several research and development projects have made new progress, and several key core technologies have made breakthroughs. On March 4 this year, the drilling depth of PetroChina's Deep Tako 1 well in Tarim, Xinjiang, exceeded the 10,000-metre mark, not only setting a new record for the deepest vertical well in Asia but also setting a record for the shortest time to drill a 10,000-metre well in the world," Yang Tao stressed.

China will continue to improve its core competitiveness, improve the existing industrial chain, focus on the development of emerging industries, and stride towards oil refining, basic chemicals, biomanufacturing, fine chemicals, and new materials.

The output of new energy equivalents has increased rapidly, and several mid-to-high-end new materials have been highlighted.

They will firmly implement the Chinese government’s “dual carbon” goals and unswervingly adhere to green and low-carbon policies.

The carbon development strategy will develop natural gas as the company's strategic, growth, and value business. We are accelerating the deployment of new energy sources such as wind, solar, thermoelectricity, and hydrogen, and creating a "low-carbon energy ecosystem" that integrates the development of fossil energy and new energy.

It has been highlighted that China strives to no longer consume fossil energy in production activities around 2033, and achieve the goal of using oil, gas, and new energy by 2035. The strategic layout of the three-part world.

They will actively fulfill our social responsibilities and benefit millions of residents in Africa by paying taxes and fees, providing employment, training employees, and assisting in the construction of facilities.

In Chad, a total of 129 water wells have been drilled free of charge for residents of surrounding communities, solving the problem of clean drinking water for about 40,000 people in 47 villages around the oil field operation area; in South Sudan, PetroChina funded young people to study in China and participate in petroleum technology and management training, donated to build the audio-visual education
centre of Juba University, and donated nearly 70,000 textbooks in short supply.

In Benin, PetroChina extended the pipeline by 310 meters, protected 120 unique local plants and more than 300 other rare plants, and "made way" for the forest reserve.

The Nibe Pipeline Project adopts a "photovoltaic + energy storage + diesel generator" microgrid solution at seven intermediate pumping stations along the pipeline, with a photovoltaic installed capacity of 10 megawatts.

China is the largest developing country in the world, and Africa is the continent with the largest concentration of developing countries. China and Africa have always been a community with a shared future.

Africa is one of the earliest regions where PetroChina carried out oil and gas cooperation. PetroChina was one of the first
batch of state-owned enterprises to “go global”.

Since 1993, it has successively achieved major cooperation breakthroughs in Sudan, Chad, Niger, Mozambique and other countries. For more than 30 years, PetroChina has carried out oil and gas-related businesses in 22 African countries and regions and has sincerely co-operated with African governments and partners for mutual benefit and win-win results.

PetroChina’s one million tonnes upstream and downstream integration project in Chad has helped Chad achieve an “energy revolution”.

The Mozambique project, which will be successfully put into operation at the end of 2022, has made Mozambique a natural gas exporter, and offshore "blue gold" is becoming a "blessing" to benefit the local area.

PetroChina develops geothermal resources in Kenya and other countries, assists host countries in vigorously developing clean energy projects, solves local power shortage problems, and serves as a model for reducing carbon emissions and developing new energy sources in East Africa.

These cooperation projects are "model projects" for PetroChina's "One Belt, One Road" initiative to deepen and implement, and are also examples of "South-South cooperation" and have been highly praised by leaders of China and many African countries.

Yang Tao emphasized that successful cooperation with Africa in the energy field is rooted in the solid political foundation and good political relations of both parties, benefits from people-to-people bonds, and is inseparable from the recognition and support of the host country's people, governments, oil companies, communities, and partners.

China is very well known as the promoter and defender of friendly relations between China and African countries, you have created a good public opinion environment for practical cooperation between the two sides, and you have continuously injected new vitality and gathered positive energy, which is an indispensable force for our successful co-operation.

They are well aware that changes in the world today are accelerating in a century, and issues such as food, energy, supply chains, and climate change are becoming increasingly prominent, and peace and development are facing severe challenges.

PetroChina is willing to work with its partners in Africa to continue to work together for mutual benefit and win-win results, to jointly cope with challenges, to further strengthen and expand practical cooperation in the energy field, to jointly safeguard energy security and supply chain security, and to promote green, low-carbon and sustainable development.
