Singer Omutume Planet's girlfriend is fed up of his philandering ways, and has decided to publicly wash his dirty linen.

“I spent over eight years with Omutume Planet. I loved him when he was poor," Catherine, who declined to reveal her second name, started.

Planet, real name Muzafaru Iparokiti, grew up in Magamaga parish, Buwenge sub-county in Jinja district, where he met Catherine, a Kenyan. He got his start in music in 2017 when he joined the Hard Target Entertainment band.

Planet later left Jinja in 2019 and came to Kampala.

He lived in Kireka  and would go to Makindye, a city suburb, to access the music studios. Planet made hit songs such  as Omusezi Mutumbi and Sugar Mummy Omusoga,  which thrust him into the limelight.

Catherine is now hurt that the man who she started out poor with is cheating on her after finding fame.

In a phone interview on Friday, May 3, she lamented that she disappointed her parents when she left school and started living with Planet. Shortly afterwards, they had a child - a girl. 

"He showed me that he would always be by my side and protect me. The situation was difficult since there was no money and it was difficult to pay bills. He had no professional job that could pay him a salary. I always supported and encouraged him, with the belief that he would one day make it. As time went on, he had a hit song, which made him famous and he started making money through bookings for events and performances," Catherine said.

She said as the money rolled in, Planet's behaviour started changing.

"In early 2023, he bought his first car and he started changing. Like any woman who knows her man, I got shocked. I thought perhaps I had angered him. I prayed to God to calm him and change him into the husband I knew. But the situation worsened. He would not come back home for days. He stopped calling us or  taking care of his child.  Even when the child would fall sick, Planet would not know. I would suffer alone to treat her. I would call and he would not pick up my calls and at times, some other people could pick my calls," Catherine explained.

She revealed that Planet was changing women like underwear, and he had the audacity to bring them to their home.

"I talked to him to change in vain. The worst part was when he started going for old women who won him over with money and cars. I respect my elders. I could not fight or have quarrels with old women who are equivalent in age to my mother. I decided to let him go and went with my kid to start a new life," Catherine said.

Life was not any easy when Catherine left as she didn't have the resources to take care of her child.

"I came back and gave him the child. I have nothing to do with Planet. I moved on, but I only want to see my child. I made a loss the day I gave him  my heart," she said.

Catherine said Planet's money has now started dwindling as he has no hit.

"The bookings reduced. He is not financially independent. He disappointed me and he made me hate all men. I will never forgive him," she said.

The next Thursday, May 9, The Kampala Sun contacted Omutume Planet on phone to explain what happened between him and Catherine. He had been busy upcountry, where he had town-to-town tours that took him almost three weeks out of Kampala.

"She is the mother of my daughter and I am the father of her kid, which will never change. We have something in common that we share and that is the baby who is innocent. I appreciate her for giving me her time and bearing me a cute baby girl and I respect her for it. I never wanted to keep her in 'prison'. It’s the reason why I let her go and do what she wanted since she is still a young lady with future goals and dreams to accomplish so she can move on with her life. I love her so much as the mother of my kid and I pray to God to protect her and bless the work of her hands. I do not have any problem with her," Planet said.

He, whoever, blamed her for not moving with changes and trends associated with celebrity life.

"She got scared after I started associating with different classes of  people. I changed my life and stopped behaving as a local person. I am not a star yet as she thinks. Money never changed me. She failed to cope with the new life changes caused by the talent. I always wanted to work hard and I had a lot of bookings, where I was supposed to deliver shows. I moved so much because I have to take good care of them. I could not abandon the money and focus on love at home," Planet stated.

He said he agreed with Catherine for the baby to live with his mother.

"Catherine can always come and visit the baby. At first, she took the baby and she failed to take care of her since she had no job. I love my daughter so much. I will always take good care of her and provide her basic needs. I pray for her to achieve all her desires in life," Planet said.
