In a battle to determine the winner of the 14th Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) of Uganda National Junior Woodball Championship slated for June 14 and 15, Kampala, Jinja,  Masaka, Lwengo, Entebbe, Wakiso, Kalangala, Soroti, Lira, and Gulu are participating in qualifier editions.

Over the weekend, Ahmadiyya Muslim Primary School from Njeru won both girls' and boys' team events to qualify for the championship, while Our Lady of Africa Namilyango won the secondary schools' category and they are ready to battle with defending champions of Mpooma Schools located in Mukono district which did not turn up for the qualifiers that took place at St. Josephs Secondary School Nagalama.

Out of the eight teams that participated, Our Lady of Africa Namilyango (OLAN) scored 177 for boys, and 197 points for girls.

The medalists of the day included Nowamani Jeremiah from OLAN who garnered 36 points, Kansiime Edgar from St. Josephs SS Nagalama scooped  43 points and Kasumba Henry from OLAN got 45 points.

The girls included Aloyo Immaculate from OLAN with 44 points, Uwase Patience from OLAN got 47 points, and McKenzie Victoria from St. Josephs managed 48 points.

During the ceremony where participants were awarded medals, trophies, and certificates, Frank Ssempebwa, the disciplinary chairperson at St. Joseph SS Nagalama, advised the students and pupils to live exemplary lives.

Meanwhile, the final games will take place in Lwengo district on June 14 and 15, and over 100 schools are expected to participate.
