MUSEVENI IN BUKEDI & BUSOGA

President Yoweri Museveni wrapped up his Bukedi sub-region campaign with a rally in Busia, thanking residents for their warm reception. He later launched his Busoga campaign in Bugiri, reminding citizens that the NRM government unified Ugandans and ended the sectarian politics of 1962.

In Busoga, he highlighted major infrastructure achievements: the Jinja–Kampala Highway, Jinja–Iganga–Bugiri–Tororo Road, Jinja–Kamuli–Mbulamuti Road, and the upgraded Iganga–Kaliro Road—four brand-new tarmac roads. He pledged continued work on the Jinja–Kamuli–Mbulamuti, Iganga–Kaliro, Bugiri–Namayingo, and several town roads, alongside plans to revive the railway to cut transport costs.

On water, Museveni noted that boreholes are ineffective in Bugiri and announced a solution: pumping water from Lake Victoria, similar to the system in Lira, to provide a reliable supply for the district.
