Oriada rides grassroots support to win Kalaki LC5 seat
The former Otuboi sub-county (LC3) chairperson was declared winner on Friday morning by Kalaki district returning officer Leontine Nsungwa, after securing 20,146 votes (64.12%) in a five-way race for the district's top seat.

Moses Oriada of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has risen from sub-county leadership to Kalaki district’s top political office after winning the LC5 election.
The former Otuboi sub-county (LC3) chairperson was declared winner on Friday morning by Kalaki district returning officer Leontine Nsungwa, after securing 20,146 votes (64.12%) in a five-way race for the district's top seat.
His closest challenger, Patrick Eyangu, an independent candidate, polled 5,795 votes (18.45%), followed by Amos Odeng of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) with 3,197 votes (10.18%).
Thomas Ochan Ayei of the Uganda People's Congress (FDC) garnered 1,752 votes (5.58%), while Charles Ujwok of the National Unity Platform (NUP) trailed with 527 votes (1.68%).
Nsungwa confirmed that 31,884 voters cast their ballots across 151 polling stations in the district during the local government elections.
“I am deeply humbled by the trust the people of Kalaki have placed in me. This victory belongs to all residents of the district, regardless of political affiliation. My focus will be on strengthening healthcare, education, road infrastructure, and promoting youth employment,” he said.
Oriada is set to succeed Samuel Okello, who recently lost the Kalaki County parliamentary race to Clement Kenneth Ongalo Obote.

NRM administrative secretary for Kalaki, Robert Elenyu, urged all elected leaders to serve with diligence and unity, emphasising inclusive service delivery.
