The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has swept all the parliamentary seats in Kakumiro district with President Yoweri Museveni scoring 91.28%.
According to the Kakumiro district returning officer, Honest Baguma, a total of 120,427 valid votes were counted, with President Museveni obtaining 109,927 votes, representing 91.28%. Robert Kyagulanyi of the National Unity Platform (NUP) scored 9,260 votes representing 7.6%.
While declaring the winners, Baguma described the election as peaceful and commended the people of Kakumiro for being peaceful.
“We didn’t register any issues during and after the elections, and I want to thank the People of Kakumiro for exercising their right peacefully,” said Baguma.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, while addressing the press soon after being declared the winner, said that the people of Kakumiro had voted for peace, stability and development.
