There is growing anxiety at Arua city-based Mvara Secondary School as the election for the Northern Youth Member of Parliament has failed to kick off.

The race has attracted two contenders:  Elma Kapel Challa of the National Resistance Movement and Wacha Elizabeth Shakira of the Uganda People's Congress.

A section of the aggrieved youth told New Vision Online that they have yet to receive their facilitation.

According to reports, each youth is supposed to receive shillings 600,000 from the Electoral Commission as well as from the candidates, which they have not received.

Robina Acio, a youth delegate from Oyam district, said the lack of facilitation has frustrated the youths, most of whom are annoyed, opting to boycott the exercise.

However, Wacha confirmed the complaints of the youth delegates but said some of them have already received the money and are ready to go to the polls.

However, efforts to get a comment from the West Nile region election officer, Juma Shasha, yielded no fruit as he was engaged in so many meetings with different categories of people.

Likewise, the youth sponsored by the NRM blamed the party for delaying to wire the funds promised for them from the secretariat.
