Final results so far trickling in from Thursday’s elections for Katakwi district-based Usuk County reveal that National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearer Richard Ongorok has been declared the winner, beating the incumbent Bosco Okiror in the highly contested seat.
These are the results announced this morning, Friday, January 16, 2026, by the returning officer for Katakwi District, Stephen Makubuya.
USUK COUNTY-Ongorok in, incumbent Bosco Okiror out
Out of the 1,6470 votes counted, Richard Ongorok (NRM) garnered 7,873 votes, closely followed by the incumbent Bosco Okiror (Independent) with 7,623, Epel Alex (FDC) got 42, Ogulo Simon Peter got 16 (DP), and Okideny Charles (Independent) got 572 votes. Total votes cast were 1,6126 while votes rejected were 344.
TOROMA COUNTY-Ossiya in, Incumbent Joseph Andrew Koluo out
In Toroma County, Ossiya Solomon Alemu has been declared the winner with a landslide victory in the race after contesting seven times for the same seat
Final results from the Electoral Commission show Ossiya garnered 10,044 votes, beating the incumbent Joseph Andrew Koluo (Independent), who got 5,778 votes. Walter Elakas Okiring (Independent) got 4,895 votes, John Robert Ekongot got 1,310 votes, Okello Stephen (Independent) got 788 votes, Akiso Benjamin (NUP) got 88, Aporu Allan (Independent) got 66, Eupet Julius (Independent) 60, Ikwap Mark Paul (FDC) 59 votes, and Okiror Ben Berenado (Independent) got 54.
NGARIAM COUNTY- Ogwang bounces back
In Ngariam County, the Incumbent (NRM) Peter Ogwang, who is also the State Minister for Sports, has maintained his seat.
He was at 8:27am on Friday morning declared the winner of the race after garnering 20,372 votes. In the race were seven contestants. Mulalu Daniel (Independent) got 2,962 votes, Otuko Augustine (Independent) got 1,952 votes, Ochailap Micheal (NUP) got 144 votes, Apuda Ignatius Loyola (FDC) got 112 votes, and Eidit John Baptist (Independent) got 148 votes.
The Woman MP seat remained unopposed in favor of the incumbent, also Vice President Rtd. Maj. Jessica Rose Alupo Epel (NRM). This after her only challenger, Angela Anuken (Independent), stepped down on the 24. December 2025.
Alupo in the NRM Primaries won with an 88.8% landslide victory beating three of her opponents Anyakoit Cecilia (NRM), Akurut Violet Adome (NRM) and Anuken Angela. This left Alupo to lift the party flag.
