Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has promised to mobilise massive voter support for President Yoweri Museveni in her home district of Kakumiro, Bunyoro region.

She recently told National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flagbearer Museveni, who is seeking re-election in the 2026 General Election, that he should today (Monday, December 15, 2025) expect to be welcomed by massive crowds in Kakumiro.

Nabbanja, who is also the Kakumiro Woman Member of Parliament, made the promise on December 13, 2025, during Museveni’s campaign rally at Muhorro BCS Playground in Kagadi district.

“Also, we in Kakumiro are in gear, waiting for you. We want to show you that [NRM] people are also there in Kakumiro,” she told Museveni, who doubles as the party’s national chairperson, in Runyoro.

In the last general election of 2021, Museveni polled 73,132 (84.94%) in Kakumiro, while his chief rival, Robert Kyagulanyi of the National Unity Platform party, garnered 10,903 (12.66%).

By the time of writing this story, Museveni was set to wrap up his campaign in Bunyoro with a rally at Kakeeka playground in Kakumiro, before proceeding to Mubende district to launch his vote hunt in the central region.

He is campaigning under the theme: Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.

The theme focuses on safeguarding achievements over the past 39 years, such as peace and development, while aiming to propel Uganda to a high middle-income status.

Other gains include wealth creation initiatives, job opportunities, service delivery, market access, as well as East African political federation.
