Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu has urged voters in Alebtong district that if they must, they should vote for National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag-bearers only, but not its chairperson President Yoweri Museveni. He has also urged them to shun those who are campaigning for Museveni's re-election in the 2026 General Election.
Speaking at Aloi corner, Alal parish, Aloi town council in Alebtong district during a November 10, 2025, rally, Muntu emphasised the importance of voters focusing on their own interests and not being swayed by empty promises from President Museveni whom he said has nothing more to offer.

The day when President Museveni will be out is the day the NRM party will evaporate, he started.
Self-seekers
“Vote only NRM flag-bearers for local government and constituency positions who can heed to your advice and drop those who are looking for President Museveni’s vote because most of them do not believe in what he is doing for the country but rather what he is giving them,” Muntu cautioned.
We are not here to beg for your votes but we are here to offer an alternative vision for Uganda, one that prioritises the needs of the people, not just the interests of a few individuals.
Muntu urged voters to be wary of NRM flag-bearers who are campaigning for President Museveni's re-election, saying they are more interested in lining their own pockets than serving the people.
“These people are only interested in using you to get back into power," Muntu said. "They will promise you the world, but they will deliver nothing. Don't be fooled. Think about your own future, think about the future of your children, and vote for change.”
I will work with those you will elect on the NRM ticket because I know that they have majority support from Ugandans but are lacking a clear guided approach of serving taxpayers on principles, honesty and good direction, he pledged.
Muntu emphasized that the ANT is committed to bringing about positive change in Uganda and that voters should focus on electing leaders who will prioritize their needs.
“We are committed to fighting corruption, improving healthcare, and creating jobs," Muntu said. “We need your support to make this happen. Don't waste your vote on NRM candidates who will only serve the interests of the President. Vote for ANT and let's build a better future for Uganda."
Police, army used to put a lid on peoples’ frustrationMuntu accused the Government of using the Police and army to suppress the people's frustration, saying it's a sign of a regime that's losing grip on power.
The ex-army commander criticised the Government's heavy-handed approach to handling protests and Opposition voices.
Muntu's remarks come amid heightened tensions between the Government and the Opposition, with several Opposition leaders condemning the alleged harassment and attack on the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi's campaign team in Kiruhura District.
Muntu cited examples of recent protests and demonstrations that had been violently dispersed by the Police and army, resulting in the deaths of several civilians and the injury of many others.
"The Government is more concerned with maintaining power than addressing the pressing issues affecting Ugandans, such as poverty, corruption, and insecurity."
Muntu called on the security forces to respect the rights of citizens and to stop being used as tools of oppression.
