With a few days left for the country to conduct the 2026 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, Moroto district has expressed its readiness to hold a successful election process.
On Saturday [Jan.10], the electoral commission (EC), a body mandated to organise free and fair elections of leaders, delivered 118 polling kits meant for voters in various polling stations.
The assorted materials were received by the Moroto district returning officer, Ms Esther Ajwang, at her office located along the circular road in Senior Quarters.

Others included a team of political stakeholders.
She said the EC’s move was an indicator that all was set for the electoral body to deliver its mandate to the citizens.
“We have adequate armed deployment to ensure the materials are safe till Thursday,” Ajwang noted, adding that the district has also arranged transport to ensure the kits arrive early at the polling places.

She said the exercise begins at 7.00am and closes at 4pm, urging voters to go and elect leaders of their choice.
Benon Kwikiriza, the newly deployed resident district commissioner, RDC Moroto, among other security chiefs, witnessed the arrival and handover of the kits during the late hours of the morning.
He also asked the voters to turn up in huge numbers to elect leaders for the new term that ends in 2031.
‘I want to ask each voter to ensure effective participation during the process so that we can have leaders of our choice,” Kwikiriza said.
He was optimistic that the election process will be successful, urging voters to exercise and step aside 20 metres so as not to cause congestion at the polling station.
The kits also bore white seals, ensuring that the inside material was intact, awaiting Thursday [Jan. 15, 2026].
The black painted boxes were labelled with the EC logo on the sides with well-marked stickers for the respective 118 polling stations across the district.
Meanwhile, the delivery of the polling materials to Moroto district marked an end to the distribution exercise to the Karamoja sub-region.
