Voting for district and city leaders continues in various districts in the southwestern region and countrywide.

In Sheema district, one of the 12 districts in the country where the electoral commission directed that the Biometric Voter Verification Kits (BVVK) be deployed, our reporter says the machines have worked successfully.

Voter turn-up was high at some polling stations, an indication that voters have picked interest in choosing their local leaders.

He cites cases of voter bribery where in some areas like in Kabwohe and Rushozi, candidates contend that some voters have to be given money first tto come participate in the voting exercise.

In Buhweju district, our reporter, Evans Taremwa, says the exercise started on time and that it is going on well.

Reporting from Kikombe A, in Buhweju west, Taremwa said that voter turnout is low but that more voters are expected turn up later during the day.

Taremwa adds that the exercise is being conducted peacefully due to heavy and proactive security deployment in the district.

In Bushenyi district, just like in most parts of the country, voter turnout is said to be low.

Aloysious Byamukama, our correspondent from Bushenyi says at some of the polling stations he visited like in Kyabugimbi and Kyeizooba, today’s exercise has attracted a low turn-up compared to last Thursday’s general election.
