The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party secured the majority of seats in the recently concluded elections for sub-county and town council chairpersons in Lamwo District.

Out of the 19 sub-counties and town councils in the district, only four seats were won by independent candidates who are NRM-leaning.

Meanwhile, 12 incumbent chairpersons retained their seats.

Christopher Omal, a long-serving LCIII chairperson, retained his seat for a fourth term in Palaek Ogili Sub-county.

He attributed his victory to the quality services he delivered to his electorate.

Alex Oyenya, the incumbent chairperson of Aceba Sub-county, who contested as an independent candidate, also won the election.

Oyenya said his campaign was issue-based, a factor he believes contributed to his victory.

He added that the development initiatives he implemented in Aceba over the past five years earned him renewed support from voters.
