President Museveni today campaigned in Kalungu and Kalangala districts, highlighting Uganda’s 40 years of sustained peace built on unity, non-discrimination and strong institutions, after decades of recurring conflict. He noted major development gains, including 93 percent access to safe water in Kalungu, rising coffee production from three to nearly ten million bags annually, and the potential for higher agricultural yields through irrigation and better farming practices.

In Kalangala, the President outlined the NRM 2026–2031 manifesto, pledged to tackle theft on the Ssese Islands, and address ferry shortages and night transport. He praised the positive impact of palm oil growing on livelihoods, encouraged diversified farming, and called for sustainable fishing practices to protect lake resources, urging continued support for the NRM’s wealth-creation agenda.

Alliance for National Transformation (ANT)

Campaigning in Rushere, Kiruhura District, ANT presidential candidate Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu pledged to guarantee maximum security for residents if elected in 2026. Addressing crowds in Sanga Town Council, Muntu also promised to protect President Yoweri Museveni after his retirement, crediting him for his contribution to Uganda’s development despite concerns over corruption.

Muntu vowed to fight corruption and boost agriculture by investing in agricultural banks and cooperatives to support farmers, pastoralists and fishers who make up 70% of the population.
