Councillors representing persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Gulu city have been re-elected for another term following elections held on Tuesday.
The position attracted four candidates- two for the female position and two for the male. Caroline Rose Adong, the NRM flag bearer, faced Evelyn Gloria Piloya, an independent candidate, for the female seat. The male position was contested by Patrick Angella Ojok (Independent) and Moses Ojok Oburu of NRM.
The election took place at Gulu Town Primary School, where Adong and Angella Ojok each secured six votes, enabling them to retain their seats in the city council.

Speaking after her declaration, Adong thanked voters for renewing their trust in her leadership, describing her re-election as a reflection of confidence in her service to the disability community.
“The trust shown by my colleagues with disabilities means a lot to me. It challenges me to work even harder to represent their interests and be their voice,” Adong said.
Patrick Angella Ojok said his priority during the new term would be advocating for improved access to education for persons with hearing impairment through the establishment of a special needs school.
He noted that Gulu city currently has only two primary schools catering for children with hearing impairment- Laroo Adra Primary School, which is government-aided, and one private institution- leaving many learners without access to secondary education within the city.
Ojok pledged to lobby for the establishment of an annexed secondary school in Gulu city to reduce the burden of long-distance travel for learners with hearing impairment.
