NEBBI - George Othuba's never-give-up attitude has finally paid off as he won the Nebbi district LC5 election following four previous failed attempts.

A living embodiment of reliance and persistence, Othuba comprehensively beat his only challenger in a two-way race for the district seat.

His landslide triumph saw the NRM flagbearer garner 28,526 votes against Alex Oyirwoth's 3,728 votes.

Oyirwoth is the LC3 chairperson for Kucwiny sub-county.

Othuba, who crossed over to the NRM from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC),  promised to fulfil his campaign pledges, underlining that he is a people-centred leader.

Leonard Jaker, a voter in Nebbi, believes Othuba received overwhelming support this time around because of his resilience.

"Imagine someone loses the election multiple times but never gives up. He has a resilient force within him and he wants to make it in life," he said, adding that victory was the Nebbi people's way of rewarding such tenacity.
