KAMPALA - Former presidential candidate Frank Bulira Kabinga has disputed the presidential election results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC), claiming the votes were altered.
According to the final results released on January 17, 2026, by EC chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the National Resistance Movement, secured a landslide victory with 7,946,772 votes cast in his favour, representing 71.65%.
The incumbent was followed by National Unity Platform's Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu with 2,741,238 votes (24.72%), Nandala Mafabi of Forum for Democratic Change secured 209,039 votes representing 1.88%, Revolutionary People’s Party's flag-bearer Frank Bulira secured 45,959 votes representing 0.41%.
Other candidates were Robert Kasibante of the National Peasants Party, who secured 33,440 votes (0.3%), Mubarak Munyagwa of the Common Man’s Party secured 31,666 votes (0.29%) and Joseph Mabilizi of the Conservative Party secured 23,458 votes, representing (0.21%).
However, Bulira says with 95% of tallied votes, they secured 65,425, representing 0.61% of the national votes.
“I don’t believe these results declared by the Electoral Commission. The 45,959 votes EC announced differ from my tallying outcomes from Johannesburg in South Africa. I was supposed to be in fourth position. But since many of the votes I secured were given to Mugisha Muntu and Nandala Mafabi, I think that is why I was placed in the fifth place,” Bulira said.
