Abraham Luzzi, one of the losing candidates in the 2026 Kampala Central Division parliamentary race, has conceded defeat and said he is open to working with winner, Minsa Kabanda.

Luzzi ran as an independent while Kabanda, who is also the Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs minister, contested on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.

She was declared winner in a race that featured National Unity Platform's secretary general, David Lewis Rubongoya, who came out second-best and expressed his dissatisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the election.

It was a contest without the incumbent, Muhammad Nsereko, who had occupied the seat since 2011.

Conceding defeat, the vocal Luzzi said leadership is not a job but a service, and that political contestation always produces winners and losers.

“I want to congratulate Kabanda for the victory in Kampala Central."

Luzzi said he would share with the MP-elect his planned reforms so that they work together for the good of the constituents.

He believes Kampala needs to be reorganised with new infrastructure, including roads, as well as the removal of slums.

"I am going to work together with Kabanda. I know there are going to be some changes in the city. We all want Kampala to shine like other cities and this we are going to do by getting rid of informal structures."

Luzzi's appeal to Kabanda is that since she has better access to President-elect Yoweri Museveni, she should clearly raise the concerns of the city to him.
