DUBAI - The Uganda Mission in the United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with the agriculture ministry (MAAIF), has presented the “Naturally Uganda, Naturally Organic” brand at the prestigious Organic & Natural Expo.
The expo is a leading platform for organic, natural and sustainable products in the Middle East, according to the mission.
A high-level 27-member Ugandan delegation, led by animal husbandry state minister Bright Rwamirama Kanyontore and ministry permanent secretary Maj. Gen. David Kasura-Kyomukama, included organic-product exhibitors, agribusiness entrepreneurs and government officials.
"Their mission was to promote Uganda’s premium-quality organic products, explore new export opportunities, and strengthen market linkages across the UAE," according to a statement issued on November 18, 2025.

During the opening day, the Uganda Pavilion received distinguished guests led by Dubai municipality director general Eng. Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, whose delegation engaged with Ugandan exhibitors and expressed deep appreciation for Uganda’s showcased products, especially coffee and honey, both celebrated for their purity, flavour and exceptional organic quality.
The MAAIF delegation, according to the statement, later paid a courtesy call to the Uganda Consulate in Dubai, where they met with deputy head of mission Ambassador Aisa Isamil and Counsellor Erina Zalwango.
Key discussion points included improving branding and packaging, boosting value addition and ensuring that Ugandan exports meet Halal and organic certification standards required for Gulf markets.
The meeting reaffirmed the joint commitment of MAAIF and the Uganda Mission to support Ugandan producers in meeting international quality benchmarks and scaling up their export footprint.

FDI in agriculture
Uganda’s economic engagement with the UAE is not limited to trade. According to recent data, UAE foreign direct investment (FDI) into Uganda has reached around USD 3.5 billion, spanning several sectors including agribusiness.
These investments reflect growing confidence in Uganda’s agricultural potential, particularly in value‑added agriculture and agro-processing.
Uganda’s participation in the Organic & Natural Expo underscores its dedication to promoting high-quality, naturally grown agricultural products and demonstrates its readiness to deepen its economic partnership with the UAE—especially in the organic and agribusiness sectors.
UAE among top export destinations
Also, Uganda's finance ministry's latest state of the economy report indicates that the Middle East remained Uganda’s leading export destination in September 2025, accounting for 32.98 per cent of total merchandise exports. These exports, include gold, coffee and base metals.
Within this region, the United Arab Emirates dominated the market, absorbing 97.12 per cent of Uganda’s exports to the Middle East.
