After an electrifying competition featuring a bevy of stunning beauties hailing from various regions of Uganda, Miss Tourism has yet to return with the 12th edition to be launched next month in March 2024.

With this year’s theme being Peace and Tourism, the campaign is aimed at advocating for peace in the country as the only way tourism can survive.

Darling Uganda has injected sh80m funding into the competition to aid its success.

Zakai Lucky, the assistant project coordinator for Miss Tourism, said the funding is a big boost to this year’s edition and it will help them improve the entire process and preparation of the pageants.

According to Pearl Byanjeru, the public relations officer of Darling Uganda, the sh80m funding will include a brand new vehicle prize that will be given to the winner, while the runners-up will be given Darling products and also a cash contribution.

During the signing of the memorandum of understanding at the Darling head offices in Namanve on Monday, February 19, 2024,  Byanjeru applauded the contributions and impacts of Miss Tourism towards the promotion of the girl-child hence supporting the initiative again this year.

“We have had a good ride with Miss Tourism for the past four years, and when they came to us, our hands were wide open to work with them once again, we have improved our contribution from sh50m last year to now sh80m this year,” she said.

Byanjeru added that their partnership with Miss Tourism fulfills their goals and visions as the company since women are their target market and they always want to support them.

Nabukonde Kiyayi from Elgon in Eastern Uganda was crowned Miss Tourism 2023-2024 and others in the top three included Alison Akello from Teso sub-region and Martha Apero from Karamoja.
