URA FC winning streak in the second round of the Uganda Premier League came to end after going down to Wakiso Giants 1-0 today evening at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso.
The Tax Collectors who had earlier beaten Gaddafi and UPDF 1-0 respectively, thought they would maintain the momentum which didn't happen.
Kenneth Kimera's strike in the 57th minute off Marvin Nyanzi assist gave Wakiso Giants a much needed win.
URA tried so much to bounce back but their were not clinical enough. The Wakiso Giants defence also stood firm to pick that vital win.
URA coach David Obua revealed that they were just unlucky.
"I think we played well but we didn't score a goal. We had so many chances we didn't convert them. But we shall try to see that we improve on that. I still believe in this crop of players and I think they can deliver. Like i stated earlier we want to have a better second round compared to the first round," stated Obua.
The result saw URA remain seventh with 27 points while Wakiso Giants who registered their fifth victory moved to 20 points in the 12th position. BUL remain top with 37 points.
For Wakiso Giants who are on the journey to survive relegation and their coach John Luyinda feels this was much deserved win.
"We indeed fought for this win. We defended well and gave in as team. This is going to movitate us in our next games," noted Luyinda.
This was Wakiso Giants first win in the second round. Earlier they had shared spoils in goalless draw with Maroons before they lost to Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0.
Elsewhere, UPDF settled to 2all draw with NEC at Bombo.
Bashir Kabuye gave UPDF a lead in the 42rd minute before NEC equalized through captain Marvin Kavuma in the 60th minute.
Four minutes later Cromwell Rwothomio gave URA a lead. However it didn't take long for UPDF to bounce back as they picked a equaliser to make it 2-2 after Christopher Kawagu striker.
The result saw NEC move fourth with 31 points while UPDF remained second from bottom with 10 points.
