Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) stunned KCCA Volleyball Club with a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Old Kampala Arena on Wednesday, leveling their National Volleyball League women's playoff final series.

KCCA started strongly, taking the opening set, but VVC responded with determination to turn the game around. The second set saw VVC improve their blocking and court coverage to win 25-22.

Head coach Hannington Nsubuga praised his team's response after a slow start.

"With better block and cover, we were able to control the second set and reduce our mistakes. The players showed character and followed instructions to get us back into the match," he said.

The third set was closely contested, with VVC recovering from a four-point deficit to take the lead, but KCCA edged it 29-27 in a tense finish.

VVC returned stronger in the fourth set, opening a seven-point lead and comfortably winning 25-17 to force a deciding set. In the final set, they showed resilience and attacking power to seal a 15-10 victory and level the series.

"We stayed calm in the final set and kept attacking. The players showed great spirit and belief, which helped us finish strong and force the deciding game," Nsubuga added.

The win was crucial for VVC as it kept their title hopes alive and forced the final into a decisive game three.

"We must stay focused, improve our defence, and maintain consistency if we are to win the final game. The players need to believe and execute the plan," Nsubuga noted.

VVC's comeback mirrors their semifinal performance against KCB Nkumba, where they recovered after losing the first game to eventually win the series 3-1.

According to the Uganda Volleyball Federation, game three of the final will be played on May 9.

Meanwhile, KCCA will shift focus to continental duty as they prepare for the 2026 Women's African Club Volleyball Championship in Cairo, Egypt. The tournament, hosted by Al Ahly, will run from April 11 to 24 and will feature 23 teams.
