The 2025/2026 season of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) is set to kick off next Friday (September 26) with a now-adjusted new format.
The UPL says the new format replaces the initial draw-based schedule with a manually prepared fixture list for Round One "in response to feedback from clubs", adding that "the revision is intended to ensure fairness and to align with the modified league format adopted by FUFA [Uganda's football governing body]".
All but four of the16 premier league teams will be action on the opening day.
BUL will get the campaign started by hosting URA while Entebbe UPPC will host Buhimba United Saints. KCCA will be away at Kitara as Lugazi take on Calvary. Police will duel with Mbarara City as Express take on UPDF.
The Vipers vs SC Villa and Maroons v NEC matches will be played on dates yet to be confirmed due to Vipers and NEC continental engagements.
The video below explains how the new format of Uganda's topflight will work in the areas of groups, matches, points, goals and final table standing to determine the champions and teams to be relegated.
