The Association of Secondary Schools Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU), together with the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Teso Zone, will conduct inspections of hosting school facilities in Ngora District on Friday, February 19, 2026, ahead of the upcoming USSSA Games.
The inspection aims to confirm the readiness of the designated host schools. Ngora Parents School and Teso Integrated School have submitted hosting requests as co-hosts, while in Bukedea District, Bukedea Secondary School and Lifeline Secondary School are lined up as co-hosts.
According to USSSA Teso Zone chairperson John Robert Osuu, the main objective is to ensure the schools can accommodate and manage the large number of participants expected for the national competitions.
The team will assess the quality and condition of playgrounds and competition venues, accommodation facilities for players and officials, secretariat and administrative venues, security arrangements, and the overall safety environment.
“The main objective of the inspection is to confirm the readiness of the host schools to handle multitudes of participants and ensure successful games,” Osuu emphasised.
James Stephen Engole, ASSHU representative for the zone, noted that the inspection report will determine whether Ngora Parents School meets the required standards to host the prestigious football finals. If not certified, the tournament could be shifted to another school.
USSSA Teso Zone General Secretary Peter Okwii explained that two districts submitted bids to host the games, and the final decision will be made after physical assessments. He stressed that hosting schools must have adequate accommodation, reliable water supply, security, sufficient playing grounds, a functional secretariat, and food storage facilities before approval is granted.
Last year, the USSSA Teso Zone Ball Games I were hosted by Kumi Municipality, with Wiggins School as the main host and Bishop Maraka as co-host.
The 2026 USSSA National Ball Games I will feature a wide range of disciplines including football (girls), basketball (boys and girls), hockey (boys and girls), rugby 15s (boys and girls), tennis (boys and girls), table tennis (boys and girls), badminton (boys and girls), U16 netball (girls), U16 volleyball (boys and girls), U16 handball (boys and girls), and U16 basketball 3×3 (boys and girls).
