The 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games officially commenced today at Bishop Maraka College in Kumi Municipal, with 2,500 student-athletes set to compete in boys' and girls' football until April 14.
A total of 77 teams will vie for supremacy and qualification to the USSSA Nationals—with boys’ finals at Ngora High School and girls’ at Bukedea Comprehensive School.
Preparedness and Lessons from Past Editions
USSSA-Teso Zone Chairman John Robert Osuu confirmed full readiness: "The grounds, accommodation, and security are set. We congratulate all qualifying schools and await their arrival." Reflecting on 2024’s petition-marred event in Ngora, he added: "Last year improved our dispute-resolution skills. This time, we’re better prepared for smoother operations."
Bishop Maraka College headteacher Francis Ebenu assured adequate facilities, including lodging, security, water, and lighting. Kumi Municipal Sports Officer John Bosco Omugen praised the hosting choice, urging the school to maintain high logistical standards for the influx of participants.
