URA FC has completed the signing of midfielder Moses Waiswa on a two-year deal running from February 2026 to February 2028.
The former SuperSport United FC and Vipers SC player joins the Tax Collectors as a free agent, becoming the club’s first mid-season signing as they look to revive a disappointing campaign.
Waiswa, who also featured in Sweden with Växjö United FC and Syrianska FC, brings vast experience both locally and internationally. At home, he has won two league titles and a Uganda Cup, achievements URA hopes will inject a winning mentality into a squad that has struggled this season.
“I want to help the team finish in a better position and compete for silverware in the near future. I am coming from environments with a winning mentality, and I believe that experience will help me contribute positively here,” Waiswa said.
“I am delighted to join a club that is familiar to many players and known for its professionalism. I can’t wait to get started and repay the trust the management has shown in me. I am ready to give my all for the badge.”
URA’s struggles have been evident in the first half of the 2025/26 season. After 17 matches, they sit 13th on the Premier League table with 15 points, having won only two home games, drawn nine, and lost six. Goals have been hard to come by, with the team enduring a barren run of seven matches without scoring—630 minutes of football—before their recent 1–1 draw with Kitara FC in Hoima. Their last goal before that came in a dramatic 7–3 win over Buhimba United Saints.
During the goalless streak, URA drew against SC Villa, Police FC, Calvary FC, and Entebbe UPPC, while suffering defeats to Vipers SC, Mbarara City, and Kitara FC. At the heart of the problem has been a midfield unable to link defence and attack effectively. Despite the presence of players like Ibrahim Wamannah, Godfrey Ssekibengo, and Nicholas Kabonge, forwards Kabon Living, Labiita, and Fred Amaku have often been left isolated. Defensive lapses, once rare, have also become more frequent.
The club made a coaching change in November 2025, dismissing Alex Isabirye and appointing Hussein Mbalangu in hopes of halting the slide, but results have yet to improve.
Waiswa’s arrival is expected to strengthen a midfield that already includes Norman Namanya, Nicholas Kabonge, Laban Tibita, and Joshua Lubwama
