Tennis prodigy Cillian Asante Ndilima is set to become Uganda’s professional tennis player if all blossoms well in the USA.

Ndilima, a 14-year-old and national tennis player got a 4 year sponsorship deal from the THX22 Foundation to join the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton Florida.

While at the academy, Ndilima will be undergoing training and also continuing with his academics.

Evert Academy is one of the leading tennis training centres in the USA, founded by tennis legend Chris Evert who competed in 157 tournaments and 18 Grand Slam championships.

THX marketing executive Collins Bongomin noted that their company through their charity arm will continue to support such a noble cause.

IOC member William Blick lauded THX22 Foundation for the move saying that it is the only way to create professional players who can win Uganda medals at the international stadium.

“Juniors are the future of all sports. And giving them such opportunities at an early age of 14 is a big impact on the growth and development of sports,” Blick who is also a former Uganda Olympics Committee chairman said.

“This is a great opportunity to open the path for others to join such high-performance centres of excellence and in the future as a country we shall be able to assemble strong teams,” Blick added.

Athlete Cillian Ndilima said he was humbled by the support and will do his best to see that he excels and achieves the target.

Former Uganda Tennis Association chairman Cedric Babu also urged the corporate brands to open up such opportunities for youngsters by supporting them.
