Uganda motocross team got a great boost ahead of the FIM Central Africa Motocross Championship (FIM CAC) on Easter weekend in the Luwero district.

Riders Stav Orland, Fortune Sentamu, Alon Orland, and Gift Sebuguzi who flew the Uganda flag high in Cape Town South Africa returned safely and are ready for the FIM CAC Races Easter Saturday and Sunday in Busiika.

Sebuguzi is looking to add the FIM Central Africa Motocross title to his profile this year.

He missed the 2022 regional title because he did not compete in the first leg but this time, he is more than ready to start with the first leg in Busiika on Saturday and Sunday.

The 2022 FIM Africa 85cc class champion returned on Monday from Cape Town South Africa where he went to race with top racers to gauge his strength and learn new skills and riding tactics.

Sebuguzi, Fortune Sentamu, Alon Orland, and Stav Orland flew the Uganda flag high during the South Africa nationals last Saturday with an impressive performance.

Sebuguzi and Alon finished 9th in the 85cc and MX125cc classes respectively while Stav Orland and Sentamu finished second and sixth respectively in the MX2 class.

The 12-year-old primary six-pupil at City Parent Primary School finished 9th overall on his first expedition and expects better performance next time according to his father Ronald Sebuguzi a three-time national rally champion.

“I’m impressed with the performance of the boy. It was our first time, and we learned a lot which I know will help us improve,” Sebuguzi said.

“Our focus now is on the FIM CAC, and we shall embark on preparation for the next events in May and June,” Sebuguzi added before extending his appreciation to Bar Aviation for the support.

However, it will not be a walk in the park and Sebuguzi expects stiff opposition, especially from Kenya Atete Benzinge, Lewis Ogonyi, Chemain Kengogo (KTM), and Wahome Mutahi (Husquvana) who have confirmed their participation.

Other racers including Jerome Mubiru, Maxwell Bukenya, Liam Ntale, Benjamin Kugonza, Maddi Lukwago, and Jason Burrows target the same silverware.

The event supported by BAR Aviation, MOIL, and Extreme Adventure Park is the first leg and the second leg will be held in Nairobi in December.

The riders will score points as individuals and as a team as Uganda target to defend the title won last year.
