Two Ugandan Bridge players are in Nairobi to compete in the East Africa Bridge Championship 2024 at the Oshwal Sports Centre.

The two pairs from the Mavericks Bridge Club are Joseph Genza (Captain) and Alex Lubandi, as well as Rebecca Mirembe and Justine Moni, who topped the Uganda Bridge Federation (UBF) National Bridge League.

They are part of a six-person delegation, including head coach Arnold Kizito and official Reagan Egulwa.

“This prestigious championship not only showcases the skill and strategy of Bridge in the region but also serves as a qualifier for the Africa Bridge Championship 2025, offering our players a chance to compete on a continental scale,” Egulwa noted.

“The journey to Nairobi has been made possible through generous donations and the support of Equator Suites Kampala, whose contributions have been vital in facilitating this representation. We are thrilled to see our players set the stage for Uganda at such a competitive level.

"This is not just an opportunity for our athletes to shine but also for the sport of Bridge in Uganda to gain more recognition across Africa."

He said this landmark event will bring together the top Bridge players from the region, showcasing the strategic depth and competitive spirit of the game.
