Uganda win match by 124 runs and series 4-2
Uganda U-19 Boy's cricket team finished their tour of India by winning their last ODI match to take their victories to four against two losses at Sanjay Farm.
It was a blowout 124-run victory after Uganda put up 178 runs on the board after Sai Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bowl.
It was an opportunity to put up a respectable total and Uganda didn't hesitate fighting hard with the likes of Fahad Mutagana leading the scoring with 49.
With a defendable score on board, the work was down to the bowling department to make their mark which they did by bowling out their opponents for 54.
Yunus Sowobi was on hand with a fiver. He took 5 wickets to the loss of only 9 runs. His effort was backed up by Musa Majid who took 2/9 to bowl out Sai.
"We came with the target of picking, mental, physical, and tactical abilities from Sanjay Farm which we felt was a bit lacking from home. Here the boys have been achieving great things. Looking at the batting department, the boys have been able to bat all their 50 overs and to go above the 40 overs which was a challenge back home before we came for the series. We played six won four and lost two, " said coach Emmanuel Isaneez.
The boys have been able to get together a few partnerships that have been impressive for the coach. The emphasis for the batters is to keep getting partnerships together.
The boys were able to learn since they faced off against teams with better-structured cricket than they are used to.
Captain Mutagana was happy they were able to learn new things in every match they played.
"Every day we have learned something new. The boys have been able to stick to the wicket, and our batsmen have been able to apply themselves by playing out their overs, " he stated.
It hasn't all been easy but they have consistently found a way to stay in the contests and win matches. This tour of India was facilitated to give the boys a chance to prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers set for Tanzania.
